Dr Conrad Murray posts You Tube video

The doctor who treated Michael Jackson on the day the pop singer died has spoken publicly for the first time.

Conrad Murray, who is at the centre of a police investigation into Jackson’s death, has realeased a video online in which he thanks his fans and says he has told the truth to authorities.

"I have done all I could do, I told the truth, and I have faith the truth will prevail," Dr Murray said in a brief video message posted on You Tube.

Dr Murray was Jackson’s personal physician at the time of the King of Pop's sudden death at age 50 on June 25 in Los Angeles. He is said to have given Jackson propofol, a powerful sedative typically reserved for use in operating rooms, through an intravenous drip the night before the singer died. According to reports, Dr Murray legally obtained Propofol from a Las Vegas pharmacy and gave it as treatment for insomnia.
